Gone are the days of an MLA's walk-in Constituent's office

It wasn't so long ago that someone here was asking "Where's Andrew", and now, I would like to know where in the world is Naomi Yamamoto, MLA. I've looked around all of the BC Government recent Press clippings and found absolutely nothing except for the fact that while the BC Rail Trial has finally taken off, so too has our Premier, along with two other western Premiers on their whirlwind tour of China and Japan.

Now I thought that the most likeliest person to accompany the Premier would be Naomi Yamamoto because, afterall, she is the BC Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations, but not one word from either her website or the BC government Press releases or the Government Caucus website.

Its with the aid of the internet, and Barry Forward's hot link to MLA Yamamoto you can find her happy smiling face at her Victoria Legislative digs, complete with her resume, and if you click on another link, it will take you to the "Government Caucus of British Columbia" website where she has this to say:

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my online constituency office.

It is my pleasure to represent the people of North Vancouver-Lonsdale in the B.C. Legislature. This site was designed as an easy way for you to stay informed about the work that we are doing on your behalf and the services available to you from the government. It’s also an easy and convenient way for you to share your ideas, concerns and questions with me.
There is another source to find our MLA, just go to Saskatchewan's Provincial website where they provide what their Premier is doing with his time, http://www.premier.gov.sk.ca/ which comes complete with photos, like this one:

Why do I have a Nancy Sinatra song running through my head?

First comment up, and then taken down by its Registered author, hmmm, do I detect an attack on IIC, and not the topic.

Remember folks, you have only one week from the date this topic was posted to make your comments before it is shut down for 'comment moderation'.

Or maybe Barry was correcting his spelling since it was one minute prior to the second post.

cut her some slack, she is going a great job, remember she has absolutely no training in this arena,

Spelling it was!

or, as IIC has shown, once the deadline is reached, he will either resubmit (depending how good of showing this has on any subject, because we do tend to slide sideways) or someone else can come up with a new topic.

As to the topic at hand, its not so much that we don't know where our MLAs are but more having to with the strangle hold that the BC Liberal Party has put on their team. Its almost like the first time they were elected in 2001. The only comment that would/could be made during the time of "Taking the knife too far", was from the Premier's Office alone.

From what IIC is saying, its the same thing again, Naomi is doing a great for us, but there's not even one peep of who went on this "junket" at tax payers expense when the Premier said that his government would be cutting back on travel expenses.

How many BC Liberals, and supporting staff, went with Gordon?

No matter how good a job she's doing, she certainly looks bored or disenchanted in the picture.

I have heard a rumour that Carol Taylor has been asked to head up the BC Conservative Party. Now that would be an exciting turn of events. Bye bye Liberal membership for me.....!

I see where IIC is coming from, I just went and had a look at two other BC Liberal MLA websites, Kevin Krueger and Kevin Falcon, and they both have exactly the same wording of:

"....This site was designed as an easy way for you to stay informed about the work that we are doing on your behalf and the services available to you from the government. It’s also an easy and convenient way for you to share your ideas, concerns and questions with me."

Ralph Sultan seems to be the exception at http://www.ralphsultanmla.ca/ but then he's talking about how life is down on the farm in Vermont in the dead of winter and the "latest" news is dated no later than 2008.

Jane Thornthwaite doesn't have a website link from the Official Legislature list.

It looks like its only the Honourable MLAs that have their websites written identically. I wonder what that makes the other BC Liberal MLAs?

"cut her some slack, she is going a great job, remember she has absolutely no training in this arena,"

I'll bite. How, exactly, is she doing a great job aside from going "Yes Boss!" every time Campbell burps?

I'll just let "absolutely no training" slide...

What is a Constiuent's office?

Anonymous said...

Don't you mean Constiuent should be spelt "Constituent"?

Don't you mean spelt should be spelled?

Speaking of Jane T, what happened on her first appearance?

Anonymous said...

Actually, Naomi looks pretty angry (arms folded) as she has been left out of Campbell's cozy clique. Not good PR, Naomi.

Jane will be back for her arraignment on the first of June.

Will she plead Guilty or Not Guilty?

That's a priceless picture of Naomi. I know Outlook and NSNews reporters check this blog... Please print that picture. Body Language says alot.

If there are any BC Liberals left on this blog, please write to the Party to make sure that Barry Forward never gets approval to run as a candidate.

I haven't checked out this blog for months. I am a canvasser for the anti-Hst campaign. People run up to us and DEMAND to sign. They are sick and tired of the liar we call our Premier.

We will win and we will get rid of this idiosy.

I don't believe there are any BC Liberals left on this blog.

Really? You'd be surprised.

Idiocy.

how about the federal CONs? Still pretending that they've got nothing to do with the hst mess?
Is there enuf teflon in the world to cover their behinds in all this?

Anonymous said...

Rockfish, saying it three times doesn't make you right.

Anonymous said...

Rockfish yes the Federal Conservatives support HST, just like the Federal Liberals and the Bloc.

It was clearly a Provincial decision though. The Feds aren't imposing the HST, they made an offer, and BC ran with it. Alberta didnn't, Saskatchewan didn't, Manitoba didn't, but BC did.

Correction, Saskatchewan did several years ago. The incoming government nixed it and then raised other taxes to make up for the loss.

Campbell has really put the gears to North Van with the un-funding of the National Maritime Centre.

Yamamoto would be wise to distance herself from Gordo and start thinking about her future without the Campbell regime.

Barry Forward is a School Trustee is that why this blog has gone down the tubes.

Ran into Barry F. a few days back. I asked him how the blog was going and he said, he didn't know, that he hadn't looked at it in months.

Naomi's reasonably photogenic so I cannot imagine that that photo is one she's pleased with - her body language is amazing and that's not a good thing!

From Naomi's point of view that can't be her favorite picture!

I don't agree with her politically on quite a few points but everything I hear says she's doing a more than reasonable job for a rookie MLA.
