Day One of the nomination period....Right off the bat in the City Pringle, George for Mayor and Bell, Dorothy Anne for council.

In the District, Richard Walton for Mayor. Jim Hanson and Robin Hicks for council.

Someone please run against Walton for Mayor. Another acclamation is bad for voter turnout.

There goes the "Hicks is retiring" rumour.

An acclamation is the same as a "Margie" run.

You mean Mathew Bond?

Interesting that Dorothy Bell's website listed on the CNV website is George Pringle's.

If nobody with influence runs against Walton, then meh! What's the use to vote? This stinky diaper needs to be changed.

What's the use to vote? Ask that question to any person in any country who doesn't have that right. Ask that question to whoever fought in either world war to protect your right to vote. It's your privilege and duty to vote, so stop acting like an ungrateful whiner who's more concerned about not getting his way than performing his civic duty.

Bravo 8:02!

By the way John Sharpe has decided not to run.

There needs to be made a three term limit on municipal councils. We have too many sitting on councils that are becoming as entitled to the position as PM Harper.

Wayne Hunter will be running for DNV Council.

I disagree! What about Gerry Furney, the long-time Mayor of Port McNeill? He's done a great job. I wonder if he's running again.

Leave the councillors term up to the voters. If the electorate is happy with the job being done, there is no reason to limit their involvement in municipal affairs. If performance isn't up to scratch, the majority of voters will make that decision at the polls. As it should be.

Mayor Walton is a Metro Vancouver's lap dog. He is the swing vote in any tie vote on Council. That spells D-E-N-S-I-T-Y.

The Mayor's generally vote last, and yes they break ties. I can't think of any times where he broke the tie and passed a significant development.

There was never a tie. These pro development types stick together. Nixon calls it cohesiveness and a well functioning council. There are many who say the constant unanimous votes in favour of densification show there is no real debate.
